The Choleric Mother: Strength that Leads, Love that Builds
When love shows up as action, but also needs to rest.
Every mother has her own way of loving.
Some express it in soft words and quiet gestures.
Others, in clarity, vision, and determination.
The choleric mother often stands at the front.
She leads with strength even when she’s weary.
She finds solutions where others see obstacles.
Her love often shows up in action, direction, and drive.
She’s focused.
She’s determined.
She’s always thinking ahead - planning, anticipating, building.
And though she may carry more than she shows,
her children feel the weight of her love in the order she creates,
the discipline she upholds,
the unwavering sense of purpose that guides her home.
But even strength needs stillness.
And even vision needs presence.
Because no matter how strong, strategic, or efficient she is,
her children still long for moments of eye contact, shared laughter, and open arms.
They don’t need her to slow down completely.
Just to remember that they don’t follow her ideas
they follow her heart.
And when that heart is both firm and tender,
she becomes not just a guide,
but a source of safety.
Do you see yourself in this?
Or maybe your mother?
I’ll be writing more about each maternal temperament soon, as we explore how knowing ourselves helps us love more intentionally.
With warmth,
